The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was not chosen as a Top Safety Pick, and, unlike the Rogue, it received a rating of Poor in several categories.
There are a number of safety features that come standard across all trim levels of the Rogue and the Eclipse Cross. Both SUVs feature systems like active stability control, an anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, and plenty of airbags throughout the cabin. These modern models also offer standard driver assistance technology, with features meant to keep drivers aware of their surroundings and prevent accidents before it’s too late.
Standard features the Rogue and Cross Eclipse share include forward-collision warnings with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning. On top of that, the Rogue also comes standard with automatic high-beam headlights, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind spot warning. While most of these are available features on the Eclipse Cross, none of them come standard on the most basic trim level. That means you have to pay extra to get the same amount of safety that the base trim of the Rogue offers at no extra cost.
Both the Nissan Rogue and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross are available in several different trim levels. If you have the budget to spring for a top-tier trim or a package that adds more features, you can get a fully decked-out crossover full of comfort and convenience features, entertainment tech, and more. But for many drivers, budget is a big factor when buying a new vehicle. While the base trim will inevitably be less luxurious than the higher-tier trims, it should still provide a comfortable ride for drivers and passengers alike.
Both the Rogue and the Eclipse Cross feature LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights across all trims. While LED lighting is becoming more common each year because of its long-lasting nature, efficiency, and ability to get very bright for optimal visibility, LED lights are still an upgrade on many vehicles, so getting them standard on the base trim is a good deal. The Eclipse Cross only has one standard USB port. Other standard features on the Rogue S but not the Eclipse Cross ES include a SiriusXM satellite radio and an electronic parking brake that’s easier to activate than a manual one. The Rogue also features standard automatic headlights across all trims, so you can’t forget to turn your headlights on once it starts to get dark or forget to turn them off when you park, which can keep you safe on dark roads and save you from needing a jump start in the morning.
