The Nissan Sentra is a well-rounded car that’s affordable, efficient, stylish, and fun to drive. It has a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration thanks to its durable design and variety of included safety features. Whether you’re a commuter, a parent, a road trip lover, or all three, this sleek sedan is a great choice.

When you see the 2023 Nissan Sentra for sale here at Illini Nissan, you’ll notice that there are several different trim levels for you to choose from. This variety of options lets you find the perfect fit for you. Lower trim levels are more affordable, while top-tier trims have extra features ranging from comfort and convenience tech to exclusive styling touches. If you want to figure out which one is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look at each of the available trim levels and see what each one brings to the table.

The Nissan Sentra S

While the Sentra S may be the most basic option in the lineup, it still has plenty to offer. Like all other options in the Sentra lineup, the S features a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 149 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque for peppy driving dynamics that let you feel the thrills on a joyride. The engine pairs with a smooth continuously variable transmission and efficient front-wheel drive. According to the EPA, this model has a rating of 29 MPG in the city and 39 MPG on the highway for a combined rating of 33 MPG. The average 2023 vehicle gets 28 MPG, so the Sentra is a smart choice for those who want to avoid pain at the pump. With a range of 409 miles on a full tank, you can go far without having to stop at a gas station.

Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite comes standard on all models of the Sentra. That means that even the S trim features Intelligent Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness monitor, and High Beam Assist. Together, these features help you stay fully aware of your surroundings and avoid accidents everywhere, from the parking lot to the highway.

You don’t have to upgrade beyond the S to get a quality infotainment setup, either. This model features a 7-inch color touchscreen display plus a 4.2-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display so that you can look at your features at a glance. But thanks to standard voice recognition and steering wheel-mounted audio controls, you don’t need to take your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road to give commands and get your settings just right.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included so that you can use your favorite smartphone apps through the Sentra’s interface. In addition to a Bluetooth hands-free phone call system, there’s also a Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant so you can stay connected while en route without getting distracted. The S features a USB-A port upfront, plus an auxiliary audio jack for hooking up older devices to the car’s speakers.

The interior layout is comfortable and intuitive. The rear seat has a 60/40 split, so you can expand the cargo area to cover some or all of the back row. Up front, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and four-way adjustable passenger’s seat let you find a comfortable position that will keep you from getting fatigued on long drives. Overall, the Sentra S delivers a lot of value for a starting MSRP of only $20,200.[a]

The Nissan Sentra SV

Upgrading to the SV gets you a variety of added and improved features, inside and out. On the exterior, you get a set of 16″ aluminum-alloy wheels that have an eye-catching design for added style. On the practical side, heated outside mirrors prevent frost from blocking your view during the winter so that you can have full visibility.

Step inside, and you’ll find larger display screens that make it easy to read important information at a glance. The SV has an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display. Instead of a single USB-A port, the SV’s interior has two plus a USB-C port, so it’s easy to keep everyone’s devices charged while on the go. If you don’t want to rely on your phone or the standard AM/FM radio for audio entertainment, you can take advantage of SiriusXM satellite radio. Whatever you listen to, you can enjoy the SV’s sound system, which has two more speakers than the S for a total of six.

In addition to the standard driver assistance technology on the S, the SV also has an Intelligent Cruise Control system. The basic cruise control on the S only lets you set a static speed that the car will maintain until you turn the cruise control off or hit the brakes. The Intelligent Cruise Control system also lets you set the following distance that you want to maintain between you and the vehicle in front of you. If you start to get too close, the Sentra will automatically slow down to match the traffic speed and will speed back up to your set speed once the coast is clear.

The Nissan Sentra SR

If you want a sportier look and feel, then the Sentra SR can deliver. Exclusive styling touches like larger 18-inch wheels, a dark chrome grille, black outside mirrors, and a sport rear design featuring a spoiler and chrome exhaust finisher let the world know you take driving seriously. The sport cloth interior features orange contrast stitching for a bold look that matches your confidence behind the wheel. A standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob complete the interior aesthetic.

Not all of the upgrades on the SR are for show. The trim also features bright LED headlights and fog lights that can cut through the darkness in any weather. Speaking of weather, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control helps keep everyone comfortable, even if you and your partner don’t agree on the ideal temperature. You can get the climate control going before you arrive at the car thanks to Remote Engine Start, which lets you use your smartphone to start the engine.

Available Packages

On top of trim levels, packages give you even more options, allowing you to get the features you value without paying for ones you don’t care about. If you get the SV trim, you can add the All-Weather Package to get Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, a Remote Engine Start System, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel so that you’re ready to tackle hot summer days, cold winter nights, and everything in-between. The SV also has an available Premium Package that adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support, a rear center armrest with cupholders, a power sliding glass moonroof, leather-appointed seats, and a leather-wrapped shift knob for a more luxurious interior.

The SR has its own version of the Premium Package, which includes all of that except the leather seats, which are replaced with Prima-Tex seats with sporty orange contrast stitching. It also features a Wi-Fi hotspot, illuminated vanity mirrors for the sun visors, a Bose premium audio system with eight speakers, and an Intelligent Around View monitor that gives you a 360º view around your car so you can navigate tight parking spots with ease. If you want a black tie look for your car, you can get the SR Midnight Edition, which gives you several black accents, including wheels, a grille, a rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. The rear badging is also blacked out, and you’ll get an exclusive Midnight Edition badge alongside it.
