Nissan Rogue: Which Trim Level Is Right for You?

When the Nissan Rogue debuted in 2007, it resembled its bigger sibling—the Murano—from the outside. However, it was actually based on the successful Sentra sedan. Still, smack dab in the middle of two successful vehicles in the Nissan lineup wasn’t the worst place to debut. Now, with three generations in its rearview mirror, the 2024 Nissan Rogue stands on its own.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue
As mentioned, the Nissan Rogue is currently in its third generation. The most recent redesign was in 2021, with the newest version getting a boost in technology and connectivity. Highlights for the 2024 model year included the recently improved Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Unlike a traditional geared automatic transmission, Nissan’s CVT operates with a pulley and belt system that provides a continuous range of gear ratios. The result is smooth and seamless acceleration without the noticeable shift points typical of traditional automatic transmissions. The CVT also delivers improved fuel efficiency and enhanced performance. Further, all-wheel drive is an option across all four trims, which helps you make the trip from Urbana to your destination and back with ease—even when winter weather threatens.
2024 Nissan Rogue S
The base-level S trim has an MSRP of under $30,000. Its key features include 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED headlights, and an eight-inch NissanConnect touchscreen display. It also comes equipped with Safety Shield 360, which is Nissan’s collection of driver assist safety features. The S trim is tied with the SV trim for the best fuel efficiency, with an estimated 30 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway.
Regarding connectivity, each of the four trims comes with a trial of NissanConnect Services, powered by SiriusXM. This allows Rogue drivers to connect remotely and receive a number of alerts, such as when they leave the doors unlocked or windows open. The S trim also has Apple CarPlay integration and Android Auto compatibility, as well as two USB ports, so you and your passengers can keep your digital devices charged and ready to go.
The S trim sports a 1.5L variable compression turbocharged three-cylinder engine. This engine also powers the other three trims. From a performance standpoint, you can expect 201 hp and a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs—which is enough power to haul a small travel trailer if you’re setting off for an adventure outside of Urbana.
Finally, the safety features found in the S trim include far more than just the basics, with standard additions like Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Parking Sensors. The higher trims do offer more in the way of safety, but the S trim still keeps you protected as you travel around Champaign County.

2024 Nissan Rogue SV
The second tier of the Rogue lineup is the SV trim. Its MSRP is just over $30,000. With the higher trim, you’ll find 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, an available Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof, as well as ProPILOT Assist. This is a semi-autonomous system that combines steering assist with intelligent cruise control to help reduce stress and fatigue when traveling on the highway or in stop-and-go traffic in downtown Urbana.
As mentioned, the SV and S trims offer the same estimated fuel efficiency as well as many of the same features. However, there are some differences, including additional safety features such as Blind Spot Intervention, which goes one step further than Blind Spot Warning by applying the brakes and guiding the vehicle back to its lane if needed. The SV trim also offers Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Cruise Control with Full Speed Range and Hold with traffic stop-go.
To help you and your passengers stay charged and connected, you’ll find four USB ports and a Wi-Fi hotspot through NissanConnect, along with a seamless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Finally, if you have a road trip planned, you’ll enjoy the eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and the available heated steering wheel and front seats.
2024 Nissan Rogue SL
The SL trim’s wheels grow another inch, coming in at 19 inches, and it offers the same available Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof as the SV trim. From there, however, you begin to see why the SL is in the top half of the lineup. First, you’ll enjoy leather-appointed seats and a 12.3-inch NissanConnect touchscreen rather than the eight-inch display found in the previous two trims. Like the SV trim, the SL trim has ProPilot Assist, but it also adds Amazon Alexa built-in and Alexa/Google Assistant.
Inside, you’ll appreciate wireless charging, wireless smartphone integration, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. You’ll also have the ability to add the SL Premium Package, which gives you a memory driver’s seat, among other amenities. On the outside, you can opt for remote-activated Welcome Lighting, which includes puddle lights and external ground lighting.
The SL trim also offers a boost when it comes to safety, adding features like Traffic Sign Recognition and an Intelligent Around View Monitor, which gives you a virtual 360-degree view of the area around your Rogue thanks to data received from multiple cameras. This is perfect when parking at the University of Illinois Memorial Stadium for the big game.

2024 Nissan Rogue Platinum
Finally, the top-tier Rogue has an MSRP of just under $40,000. With that price, you get a standard Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof, quilted semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, a 12.3-inch NissanConnect touchscreen display, and a 10-speaker Bose Premium Audio System, among other amenities.
The Platinum trim level also keeps your digital devices connected and ready to go thanks to Amazon Alexa built-in and Alexa/Google Assistant, wireless charging, and four USB ports. Like the SL trim, you’ll enjoy NissanConnect Navigation with Voice Activation to help you get where you’re going and a three-month trial of SiriusXM Traffic. Also, to keep you and your passengers safe during the drive, you’ll find many of the same features the SL trim offers in the Platinum.
Comfort is a priority thanks to the standard driver memory seat and the semi-aniline material on the seats, which offer a smooth-to-the-touch feel that’s also more durable and stain-resistant than cloth seating. There are even optional heated rear seats for your passengers.
