When it comes to compact crossover SUVs, you might feel like the market is oversaturated with options. It seems every manufacturer sells at least one crossover model, if not more. However, a quick glance at the market can be misleading. While there are plenty of crossovers to choose from, most of them are fairly interchangeable and do not actually make the most of a crossover build. You see, a crossover is unique or, at least, it should be. Ideally, a crossover will provide you with the nimble ride of a sedan and the cargo capacity of a larger SUV. It will manage urban streets just as well as it manages the highway. It will handle a camping trip as well as it handles a trip to baseball camp. In short, a crossover should be the perfect vehicle for a family or a single person who travels with a lot of luggage. It should be able to please most drivers no matter what type of vehicle they’ve previously driven.
In reality, a lot of crossovers are not getting this done. That’s why the 2023 Nissan Rogue has been such a successful vehicle; it offers a smooth ride, great acceleration, plenty of cargo room, and lots of interior comfort. Its price is still very economical, coming in below other crossovers that don’t offer nearly as much as the Nissan Rogue. To make our point, we will look at the 2023 Nissan Rogue vs 2023 Buick Envision. A comparison between these two compact SUVs will give you an idea as to why the Rogue is the best option on the crossover market today and why it’s become the gold standard for compact SUVs.
It does not matter what you plan to primarily use your crossover for; you want to know that it gets great mileage. Whether you’re mostly using it to commute or if you’re using it multiple times a day to shuttle the kids from event to event, you don’t want to be distracted by how many miles you’re traveling, worrying that each one is going to cost you a lot at the pump. We know that fuel costs have fluctuated significantly over the past two years, and we do not want you to be worried about when the next fuel spike will hit. We believe that you should be able to own a crossover that gets stellar mileage so that your purchase becomes a smart long-term investment.
Nissan has made a name for itself regarding fuel efficiency, and the 2023 Nissan Rogue is no exception to that trend. Its 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine gives you 30 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway. What does that translate to? Since highway driving features less stop-and-go, you can get more out of your tank thanks to less braking and accelerating. These numbers put the Nissan near the top of its class in terms of efficiency, and they’re one of the main reasons the Rogue has been heralded as such a smart purchase.
The 2023 Buick Envision’s engine also provides some solid fuel efficiency, but it cannot match the Rogue. The Envision offers 23 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. You will see substantially higher fuel costs with the Envision, which can be distressing in the best of times and budget-ruining during the worst. When viewed as a long-term investment, the Envision just cannot compare with what the Rogue offers regarding mileage. Your monthly budget will be far happier with a Rogue than an Envision.
We mentioned earlier that a prime reason to purchase a crossover is that it can provide you with space for luggage and gear. In our opinion, one of the crossover’s main selling points is that it can handle a lot of suitcases without becoming an oversized vehicle. Therefore, when shopping, you should closely eye the cargo capacity of any crossover you’re considering buying. Your compact SUV should be the solution to your travel problems, never the cause.
The Nissan Rogue offers 36.5 cu.ft. of cargo volume behind the rear seats. With the rear seats down, the number goes up to an impressive 74.1 cu.ft. Thanks to the space your Rogue will provide, you won’t have to leave anything behind, whether it’s an extra large suitcase or athletic equipment. It does this without ever losing its sense of versatility on the road, too. While you’ll be given all that space, you won’t feel it while driving; this provides the best of both worlds: easy driving and plenty of storage. Family vacations will be simpler to plan now that you know you can bring along whatever you want.
The Buick Envision only provides a disappointing 25.2 cu.ft. of space. This is not much more than your average sedan. If you’re going to purchase a crossover, you want to take advantage of its build, and the Envision’s numbers won’t let you do that. Even with the rear seats down, the cargo space is still small at 52.7 cu.ft. When it comes to long trips, the Envision will have you debating what to bring since you won’t be able to pack everything you and your friends and family want. There’ll be some difficult sacrifices that’ll need to be made. In terms of space, it’s hard to beat the Nissan Rogue, making cargo yet another in a long list of reasons we’re proud to offer this crossover to our customers.
The inside of your crossover should look as grand as the exterior. It should also be comfortable so friends and family can enjoy long trips instead of dreading them. Plus, the infotainment should be stellar; in our age of technology, there’s no excuse for a vehicle that doesn’t have plenty of smart tech to keep all on board comfortable and entertained.
The Nissan Rogue’s interior has a lot to offer customers. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen that can be updated to a 9-inch one and a 10.8-inch head-up display (HUD). The latter is truly exciting as it displays information right onto the bottom of your windshield. This makes checking your speed or navigation easy; you don’t even have to look down. It’ll impress passengers as it looks cutting-edge and makes for a safer ride as your eyes will never leave the road. Whatever device you bring, which can be synced to the Rogue with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, can also be charged with a wireless charging pad. This way, you’re always connected to the digital world, even when you’re off-road.
You and your passengers will always be comfortable, too; it will not matter if you have different definitions of comfort, either. The Rogue has three climate zones, so you can set the temperature to whatever degree you and your passengers want. If one rider likes it cooler than another, there won’t be any fighting over whose preference wins out. Everyone can get the climate they want.
The Buick Envision also has a lot to like in its interior, but there are a few areas it comes up short in comparison. The Envision has many of the same infotainment systems, and it also has a great touchscreen that can be increased in size on higher trims, along with a head-up display. It also has two climate zones as opposed to three climate zones. Overall, it’s a great interior, but it does not quite match the Rogue’s when these two crossovers go head-to-head. Combine that with the Envision’s smaller cargo space and poorer fuel efficiency, and there’s no question at all that the Rogue is the better purchase.
